the pierced lid lifting to reveal a hollowed interior, one lacking its liner, the gilt-bronze-mounted marble body on a footed base and a square plinth


25.5cm high, 11cm wide;

10 in., 4 ⅜ in.

Probably acquired by Charles Gordon of Braid (1738-1814) for the Hermitage, Edinburgh;

Thence by descent.
