Description

NIKE, NIKE AIR FORCE 1, SIZE 10.5

Rubber, Cotton, Leather

2004

Originally released in 1982, the Air Force 1 is named after the presidential aircraft. Designed by Bruce Kilgore, it was the first basketball shoe to feature revolutionary Nike Air technology. Mr. Kilgore’s timeless design also debuted during the infancy of hip-hop in New York City. MC’s adopted the shoe for their own, which made the shoe surge in popularity as the genre grew into the cultural force it is today. Throughout the 39 year history of the design, Nike has recognized the importance of the hip hop industry’s relationship with the brand through iconic designs that have gone on to be some of the most desirable models for sneaker collectors.

In the early 2000s the founders of Roc-A-Fella, Jay- Z, Dame Dash, and Kareem "Biggs" Burke, were rarely seen without all white All Force 1s on foot. Crediting their dedication to the beloved model, Nike gave Roca-A-Fella their very own Air Force 1 Low in 2004. The Air Force 1 Roc-A-Fella is constructed with an all white leather base and accented with the record label's logo on the tongue, heel, and insole.

This pair features a rare double layer Swoosh, the first such example to surface at Sotheby’s.

As one of the most iconic early Air Force collaborations, the style with the single-swoosh saw a re-release in 2017 in celebration of the Air Force 1’s 35th Anniversary, cementing it as one of the most legendary Air Force 1s produced. The double-layered swoosh has never been re-released.
