A Louis XV/XVI Transitional Tulipwood and Parquetry Table à Ecrire, Third Quarter 18th Century
the oval cross-banded galleried top with diamond trellis inlay centering quatre foil florettes, the frieze containing a pull-out slide and a drawer, raised on angular cabriole legs joined by a crescent-form shelf, and ending in leaf-chiseled scroll sabots; the underside of the top section with black-painted mark of a crowned GR possibly above an F (rubbed)

According to Jean Nicolay, L'art et la manière des maîtres ébénistes français au XVIIIe siècle (Paris 1976), p.706, the mark of a crowed GR above a smaller F stands for the Garde-Meuble Royal de Fontainebleau.
