The familiar mark RC, a pellet below, in a shaped shield, struck on these table ornaments is that of Richard Henry Comyns (25 December 1864 – 5 April 1953), representing William Comyns & Sons, of which he was appointed the permanent governing director when the firm was converted into a limited liability company in 1930. This RC mark continued to be used after R.H. Comyns’s death and until January 1993 when the business was liquidated and acquired as a subsidiary by Royal Selangor of Kuala Lumur, pewter manufacturers, established in 1885. The current name of the firm is Comyns of London Ltd., incorporated as a private limited company in April 1993.
