A set of six George IV carved mahogany hall chairs
circa 1822, in the manner of Gillows
the shaped back carved with shell and foliate motifs with scrolled borders and painted with the arms of Ellis quartering Agar [sic] impaling Howard for George James Welbore Agar-Ellis, 1st Baron Dover, the boarded seats on faceted tapering legs with lotus carved collars
Probably supplied to George James Welbore Agar-Ellis, 1st Baron Dover (1797–1833) shortly after his marriage to Lady Georgiana Howard (1804–1860) in 1822 (see figs. 1 & 2).
