A probably Netherlandish or French miniature flintlock pistol by Rousseau, 18th century
the damascened and parcel gilt octagonal barrel signed Rousseau Fecit, the lock signed Rousseau, with carved full walnut stock with finely engraved polished steel lock, trigger guard and mounts, with steel ramrod

There is a gunmaker Johannes Rousseau recorded in Amsterdam, active circa 1780-1805, but it is unlikely that this same maker was working considerably earlier in the 18th century, as suggested by the style of this miniature pistol.
