The 1949 insurance valuation from Cartier reveals a unique piece of history with a handwritten note by Mamie Eisenhower, who details the sentimental origins of the earclips. According to Mamie, these earclips were a gift from her husband, Dwight D. Eisenhower, given in 1948 to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary. This thoughtful gesture from President Eisenhower marked a significant milestone in their marriage, symbolizing his enduring affection and admiration for Mamie during a time when he was ascending in his military and political career.

The significance of these earclips extends beyond their initial gift. In 1967, almost two decades later, Mamie continued the tradition of legacy by passing down the treasured earclips to her daughter-in-law, Barbara, as a Christmas gift. This gesture conveyed Mamie’s warm regard for Barbara and reinforced family continuity, connecting generations through a piece filled with personal history. The earclips became not just a symbol of elegance but also of cherished family bonds within the Eisenhower lineage.
