Between 1998 and 2008, Cartier produced the Collection Privée Cartier Paris, better known as 'CPCP'.

That exceptional production was dedicated to revisiting the iconic models of the Maison while powering them with the finest mechanisms. These pieces are today rightly recognized as some of the most collectible watches of the last 40 years.

The Tank à vis is based on the design of the Tank Etanche that saw light in 1931. Etanche means waterproof in French. It embodies the quest of Cartier to produce water resistant pieces, which was one of the main challenges at the time. The Tank à vis kept the distinctive four screws on the bezel, while its thicker profile ensured a contemporary feel to the creation.

The design was used in the CPCP collection for several models, including the dual time, wandering hours and time-only.

While some other models of the CPCP collection were produced as limited edition, usually of 150 examples, the most exceptional and rarest piece was the skeletonized Tank à vis, made in platinum as a limited and numbered edition of twenty pieces only.

This incredible example is number 05/20 and would represent a significant addition to any serious watch collection.
