Marie-Claude de Fouquières came to prominence in the late 1960s and 1970s, consistently placing richly-coloured resin with a internally shattered effect at the centre of her designs. She is said to have started creating furniture in 1969 after being unable to find what she was looking for herself, and was patronised by numerous high-profile clients including during her prominent career before leaving furniture design in 1977.
