Pierre Gobert was a French painter born in the Fontainebleau who joined the Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture in Paris on 1701 as a portraitist. During the reign of Louis XIV he became one of the leading painters of the ladies of the court as evidenced by the copious portraits he executed during the time.
