This sideboard is part of the Magico collection designed by Alessandro Mendini for the Paolo Curti and Annamaria Gambuzzi & Co gallery in Milan in 2010. Each piece of the collection was executed in an edition of three. The surface decoration is an homage to the artist Fortunato Depero, one of the most important exponents of the Futurism, a movement that promoted the innovation in any art medium encompassing painting, sculpture, ceramics, graphic design, industrial design, interior design, theatre, film, fashion, textiles, literature, music and architecture. It emphasized dynamism, speed, technology, youth and violence.
Sotheby's would like to thank Atelier Mendini for their assistance in the cataloguing of the present lot.
