Collectors are often fascinated by the beauty of imperfection, and the present Rolex Daytona reference 116520 would be an outstanding example of this. Introduced in 2000 and produced until 2016, the reference 116520 was the first Rolex chronograph to feature an in-house automatic chronograph movement, the famous calibre 4130. During its early production period from approximately 2000 to 2004, a specific formula of varnish was applied to the dials of the white reference 116520. Upon exposing to different conditions such as sunlight and temperature, this varnish would have the dial gradually change into a cream colour. Sometimes referred to collectors as the "Panna Cotta", the present dial has cultured into a very deep and rich colour, making it very pleasant and highly desirable.
