A prestigious partnership between MB&F and L’Epée, the Melchior is the second collaboration between the two Swiss manufactures. Launched in 2014, it is inspired by the world of science fiction and is limited to 99 pieces only. The name behind Melchior lies a very interesting story. According to MB&F's founder Maximilian Büsser, starting from the 15th century, every eldest son from the Büsser family was given a traditional forename of either Melchior or Balthazar. However, Maximilian Büsser's grandfather went against the tradition and named himself Max, and this was how the founder of MB&F gained his name as well. In the end, Maximillian fell in love again with the name Melchior, thus giving the present robot here the same name which represents the lineage of the Büsser family.
