The Catalouge Note for Lot 25 has been updated.

These sneakers were worn by James Harden on April 3rd, 2019 when the Houston Rockets beat the Los Angeles Clippers, 135-103. Harden recorded 31 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists.

Notably, the pair features inscriptions honoring Harden’s friend, the late Nipsey Hussle, who passed away on March 31st, 2019. Growing up in the same area of Los Angeles, Harden and Hussle were spotted together many times over the years, and their close friendship is well documented.

On the night of April 3rd, just days after Hussle’s death, Harden wore the presented sneakers. The right shoe is inscribed “TMC”  in reference to Nipsey’s “The Marathon Continues” mantra, and the left shoe is inscribed “NH Da Great Prolific”.

The sneakers have been photomatched by MeiGray. The sneakers are accompanied by a letter from James Spence in regard to the inscriptions.

James Harden has cemented his legacy as one of the most dominant players in the history of the NBA. Commencing his professional journey with the Oklahoma City Thunder, after being selected as the 3rd overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, Harden quickly emerged as a standout talent, showcasing his dynamic offensive skill set and versatility on the court.

In 2018 with the Houston Rockets, Harden won the Most Valuable Player award leading his team to a league-best 65 wins. Continuing on this hot run of form, Harden led the league in scoring for three consecutive seasons (2018-2020), becoming only one of eight players in NBA history to ever do so.

At the time of cataloging, Harden has career averages of 24.1 points, 7.1 assists, and 5.6 rebounds per game. Harden is a 10-time All-Star, 6-time All-NBA First-team selection and 2-time NBA assists leader.
