This 1960 British psychological crime horror was directed by Michael Powell and written by Leo Marks. It stars Carl Boehm, Anna Massey and Moira Shearer. The film centres on a serial killer who kills women and uses a portable film camera to record their dying expressions of terror. The film's awkward and harsh subject matter, and its extremely tough reception by critics had a massively negative effect on Powell's career as a director in the UK. However, it attracted a cult following, and in the years that followed has been re-looked at and is now considered a masterpiece.
