each of tall tapered baluster shape, with rounded shoulders sweeping to a waisted neck and flaring rim, richly painted to the exterior in shades of vivid blue with a central band of aa hunting scene depicting a huntsmen and soldiers engaged in a pursuit of animals and birds, below stylised plantain leaves at the neck and above a register painted with various sea creatures riding on crashing waves skirting the lower body, the cover with further soldiers and a matched bud-shaped metal finial

Guilherme Augusto Machado Pereira, 1st viscount of Pereira Machado (1822-1868), Porto.

By descent to his granddaughter, D. Margarida Rosa Pereira Machado de Castro

(1886-1977), who married Dom João de Castro Pamplona, 8th Count of Resende, 29th hereditary Admiral of Portugal, Count of Carvalhal and Viscount of Beire (1882-1924).

Thence by descent to the present owners.
