Description

The Glenturret 50 Year Old in Lalique 40.0 abv 1972

Decanter #007 of 150, distilled in 1972, drawn from a single refill sherry cask, crystal stopper and certificate of authenticity within original presentation case, within outer wooden travel case

Crafted by Whisky Maker Bob Dalgarno, formerly Whisky Maker at The Macallan Distillery, the whisky was drawn from the last remaining cask from Glenturret’s 1972 vintage, making this the oldest cask in their possession. As a single cask it has spent the last five decades maturing in a refill European Oak Sherry cask which gives the whisky a beautiful antique oak colour. This 50 year old whisky is housed in a striking, hand carved black crystal decanter produced by luxury French crystal house, Lalique and designed by Marc Larminaux, Artistic and Creative Director at Lalique, to mirror the craftsmanship and skill that went into producing such an extraordinary whisky.

Official Tasting Notes:

Sweet aromatic candy forms an ever-present background to hints of fresh apple and warm honeycomb. Subtle green oak, syrup sponge, dates and dried prunes lightly coat the mouth, a slight touch of aniseed. Gently aging oak reflects the five decades spent maturing in cask.
