Natural pearl, sapphire and diamond necklace, late 19th century and later

Composed of five rows of slightly graduated roundish to oval, barrel-, button-, and drop-shaped natural pearls measuring approximately from 4.85 to 2.85mm, the clasp with a reverse-set step-cut sapphire in a foiled close-back setting within a border of cushion-shaped diamonds, shortest length approximately 390mm.

Accompanied by SSEF report no. 131271, stating that the sapphire is of Ceylon origin, with no indications of heating, four hundred and eighty-eight pearls were found to be natural, saltwater.
