Pieter van Hoven was a prolific Judaica maker, credited as the early silversmith with the most amount of surviving Judaic objects. Born in Amsterdam in 1653 to a Utrecht skipper, he lived in the Jewish quarter, became a master silversmith around 1679, and died in 1735.
