The story of Audemars Piguet unfolded in 1875 when two young and ambitious watchmakers Jules Audemars and Edward Piguet, aged 24 and 22 at the time, founded the company in Vallée de Joux, Switzerland. For some time, the two watchmakers worked closely together without formalizing their partnership legally. The trademark of Audemars Piguet was hence officially registered in the year 1882.
The present lot is a complicated iteration of the Royal Oak launched in 1972. House in a 44 mm case, it features a 60-second tourbillon and a chronograph.
