FOLLOWER OF FRA BARTOLOMEO | THE HOLY FAMILY

This painting, of high quality, can be linked to the famous composition by Fra Bartolomeo in the Galleria Borghese in Rome. The format is different – the Rome painting is a tondo – and there are some variations in the present work.

The clear light that plays on the figures and their sculptural quality also recall the art of Piero di Cosimo, Fra Bartolomeo’s master, in the years between 1490 and 1500.

Ce tableau, de belle qualité, est à rapprocher de la célèbre composition de Fra Bartolomeo conservée à la Galerie Borghese à Rome. Le format en diffère, puisque la composition de Rome est en tondo, et l’on observe quelques variantes dans la présente œuvre.

L’éclairage franc des figures tout autant que leur côté sculptural évoquent également l’art de Piero di Cosimo, le maître de Fra Bartolomeo, dans les années 1490-1500.
