Description

Château Mouton Rothschild 1921

Pauillac, 1er Cru Classé

u. ms, heavily damp-stained and bin-soiled label, slightly raised cork, corroded and torn capsule partially revealing cork, signs of old seepage

An alluring bouquet of cinnamon and star-anise. This smells of Mouton's cellar walls, hardly surprising as the bottle came from there! Incredibly sweet, as are all 1921s. It gradually dries on the palate, which is normal for a wine of this age, but it is so intriguing, complex and aromatically dimensioned. Privileged drinking. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
