Four surimono

Edo period, 19th century 


each a woodblock print, surimono, embellished with metallic pigments and embossing, signed Hokkei, privately published and comprising:


- A woman with a book sitting next to a New Year's pull toy, circa late 1810s

- A woman visiting the Inari Shrine at Oji, a child attendant beside her, circa 1822

- Ietaka, from the series A Series for a Gathering of the Elders of Poetry (Shoshikai bantsuzuki), circa 1822

- Yoshinari, from the series A Series for a Gathering of the Elders of Poetry (Shoshikai bantsuzuki), circa 1822


Each a surimonoshikishiban:

21 x 19.3 cm., 8¼ x 7¼ in. (the first)

20.5 x 18.9 cm., 8 x 7½ in. (the second)
