Patek Philippe launched the Reference 5951 at the Basel Fair in 2010 with an exclusive first year offering with red accents to the dial and baton indexes.
The movement is designed based on caliber CHR 27-525 PS, the thinnest column-wheel-controlled split seconds chronograph movement at the time, and boasts the addition of a perpetual calendar module that adds a mere 2.05 mm in height, adding up to an overall height of just 7.3 mm, making it the thinnest rattrapante chronograph with perpetual calendar ever crafted by Patek Philippe. The new caliber CHR 27-525 PS Q is exclusively hand-crafted, one-by-one, due to its extreme complexity.
The design of the dial is both sporty and contemporary, which was completely new for Patek Philippe watches. The cushion-form case is reminiscent of the manufacture's first split-seconds chronograph with art-deco design which dates back to the 1920s.
