The reference 1491 time only by Patek Philippe is known as the “Scroll” lugs for obvious reasons. Patek introduced the reference in 1940 and remained in production for the next 25 years. The present example belongs to the earlier series of production which is identified by the hard enamel indexes as well as baton numerals mounted to the dial at the quarters. The case is very well preserved with two crisp hallmarks, one located under the lug and another located under the case back.
Highlighting the present watch even further is the mechanism which features the rare indirect center seconds. A collaboration between Victorin Piguet and Patek Philippe resulted in the ébauche on the present calibre to feature an additional centre seconds mechanism that was expertly added to the existing 12'''120 subsidiary seconds register movement.
