Inspired by Gerald Genta’s iconic design of the Patek Philippe Nautilus, the aesthetics of the reference 5165 Aquanaut came as a surprise upon its release in 2007. While it borrowed the rounded octagonal profile of the Nautilus, the reference 5165 featured a sleeker and sportier design with the exclusion of ‘Nautilus ears’ on the case’s sides. Crafted from stainless steel fixed to a supple rubber strap, the 5165 Aquanaut attracted buyers seeking the horological prowess of a Patek Philippe timepiece in a younger form. Originally sold in 2007, this Aquanaut is one of the earliest 5165s in the reference’s short production span lasting only until 2012. We are pleased to offer the present lot in excellent overall condition and complete with its Certificate of Origin.
