A. Zwollo, 'Pieter Mulier de Jonge (1637-1701), alias Tempesta, werkzaam als tekenaar in Haarlem, Montfoort, Brussel, Bronnbach en Rome', in Delineavit et Sculpsit, no. 26, November 2003, pp. 19-45, reproduced p. 39.

The present work is related to two drawings by Peter Mulier the Younger (1637-1701) depicting the same structure, a watergate in Montfoort.1Molenaer is best known for winter scenes and landscapes such as the present work, which reflect the influence of Jacob van Ruisdael (1628/29-82) in the choice of subject and composition.
