Chang and Eng (Conjoined Twins)

Last Appearance of the Original and World-Renowned Siamese Twins! [New York]: Clarry & Reilley, ca. 1870

Broadside (500 x 130 mm). Numerus fonts, large central engraving of Chang and Eng, with a further six engraved vignettes of the conjoined twins engaged in various activities, a single vignette of "The Beautiful Circassian Girl" at bottom; old folds, one or two stray spots, minor soiling. Matted, framed, and glazed with Plexiglas; not examined out of frame. 

"These Wonderful Living Curiosities who have so long excited the wonder and astonishment of the world are now on their way to Paris to subject themselves to the critical and perhaps fatal operation of surgical separation…" (broadside text). The twins were not, in fact, separated in Paris, and died conjoined in 1874.
