14 (of 24) volumes only, 8vo (235 x 140mm.), plain engraved dedication in volume one, 558 hand-coloured plates, contemporary green half morocco, red morocco labels in second and third compartments, gilt edges, marbled endpapers, some light spotting, spines somewhat faded, extremities slightly rubbed


Shaw, who served as Keeper of the Collections at the British Museum, produced one of the finest "small sets" of British natural history.
