Led by the superstar tandem of Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant, the Los Angeles Lakers finished the 2002 NBA season with a 58-24 record and earned the 3rd seed in the Western Conference. 

In the playoffs, the Lakers dispatched the Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs, Sacramento Kings, and New Jersey Nets to capture the franchise’s third consecutive NBA championship.

The Lakers are tied with the Boston Celtics for the most championships by a franchise in NBA history with 17.
