Please note that the Giacometti Committee will be issuing a revised authentication certificate for the present lot following our auction with a picture of the vase in its original state, as examined by the Giacometti Committee with the following wording: “The Giacometti Committee has become aware that, subsequent to its examination of the object, the vase has undergone sanding”. For further clarification, as noted in Sotheby’s condition report, the vase has been recently restored by a professional object conservator, and its coloration is now consistent with the family's recollection of the vase from the late 1940s.
