Fahad Karim, a South Asian new media artist, has captivated audiences worldwide with his innovative use of technology to explore and examine human culture. Born in 1990, Karim's nomadic life has taken him across Switzerland, India, Bangladesh, Egypt, the Philippines, Mexico, and the US, enriching his artistic perspective. His work often reimagines traditional themes through automation, architecture, folklore, and our relationship with technology.

For the Sotheby's auction celebrating the Lumen Prize anniversary, Karim presents "Searching For Answers On Jupiter," a mesmerizing code-based artwork. This piece invites viewers to embark on a meditative journey through the swirling colors of Jupiter. The artwork reflects Karim's personal philosophy of looking to the stars to calm anxieties and shrink the scale of personal problems.

"Searching For Answers On Jupiter" is a meditation on existentialism and a metaphor for our never-ending quest for meaning in life. Created during a time of personal uncertainty and global unrest, the artwork offers a moment of peace amidst internal and external battles. Viewers are encouraged to lose themselves in the vibrant patterns of Jupiter, accompanied by the journey of space probes tracing the planet's intricate designs. This generative algorithm-based artwork reveals an endless series of aerial views of Jupiter, with new sites unveiled every few seconds. The probes perform their work, interrogate the patterns, and move on, never to return to the same spot. If multiple viewers engage with the artwork simultaneously, they will experience a synchronized journey across the gas giant, highlighting the shared nature of this contemplative experience.

Karim's work has been exhibited internationally, including at Art Blocks Curated and NFT ART CDMX.
