Remarkably, the journey of this kovsh has been recorded since its inception. Having been created by Fabergé as a bespoke commission for Joseph Radine, whose initials are borne on the handle in gold, it later was passed on to his beloved goddaughter Hélène Duckerts, née Coupernic (previously recorded as Kupernik in Russia).
The kovsh accompanied young Hélène as she departed her native Kiev for France, where she spent nearly 60 years. Hélène travelled to Conneticut to be with her daughter, no doubt bringing her beloved kovsh with her. Traversing oceans and continents once again, the kovsh was brought with Hélène to her final resting place, Geneva, the same city in which, in 1915, her daughter Paule (also known as Paulette) had been born. In 1974, upon the death of her mother, Paule herself inherited her mother's wonderful kovsh, bringing it back to Conneticut with her and eventually bequeathing it to her son, in whose possession it has remained till present.
