Rajendra Dhawan studied at the College of Art in Delhi in the 1950s before traveling to Belgrade where he was exposed to an even greater variety of artistic techniques. He ultimately settled in Paris in 1970 after an education at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. While Dhawan lived in Paris, some of his peers described him as the ‘painter's painter’ for his commitment to his craft. Dhawan’s work pushes the boundaries of abstraction by whispering through muted colors a concrete meaning of art. He has had several exhibitions in India and Europe, including at Galerie du Haut-Pave, 75 Galerie, Gallery Chemould, and Dhoomimal Gallery.
