New York-based interior designer Robert Stilin was invited to create vignettes using accessibly priced objects, furnishings, prints and photography from the Contemporary Living auction. “Mixing and layering different mediums is exactly what I do in my practice,” says Stilin. “It’s consistent with how I view the world and how I view living and collecting. People don’t just buy art or design. They buy different pieces and have to put them together.” Click ahead to view his artful vignettes and join Sotheby’s New York on 13 July from 6–8 PM for an opening reception and exhibition celebrating Contemporary Living. –Stephanie Sporn
