S
otheby’s Israeli & International Art Department presents exceptional works by leading modern Israeli artists including Reuven Rubin, Nachum Gutman, Mordechai Ardon, Yehezkel Streichman, Josef Zaritsky, Michael Gross, Yaacov Agam and Moshe Gershuni. The department also offers significant works by prominent contemporary Israeli artists such as Michal Rovner, Sigalit Landau, Yehudit Sasportas and Adi Nes. In addition to Israeli art, our auctions regularly include artists of the École de Paris—among them Marc Chagall, Moise Kisling, Chaim Soutine and Jules Pascin—as well as German Impressionists such as Max Liebermann and Lesser Ury. These are presented in the International section of the Israeli Art sales, alongside works by Russian avant‑garde artists and modern British artists including David Bomberg.
Sotheby’s is the only international auction house to hold dedicated annual sales of Israeli art. Introduced in Israel in 1988, these auctions expanded to New York in 2004 in response to growing global demand for Israeli art. Our experienced specialists in New York and Tel Aviv have overseen landmark sales that achieved strong results for important works across all periods and schools of Israeli art.
Sotheby’s annual sales of Israeli Art are held in New York each December, offering collectors around the world access to the most significant modern and contemporary Israeli artworks on the market.
