Designed as a floral bouquet, each flower centered on a cushion-cut blue sapphire, with petals composed of similarly-cut yellow sapphires, accented by oval-shaped rubies, the stems gathered together with bands of single-cut diamonds, gross weight approximately 63 dwts, signed Trabert & Hoeffer Mauboussin, numbered 4225; 1940s.
Condition
In good condition, the mounting with light surface scratches commensurate with light wear, and a few small areas of solder to the reverse, not visible when worn; the end of one stem has broken off, not immediately noticeable when worn. Mounting tests as 14 karat gold. The blue sapphires are medium light to medium slightly violetish blue, slightly to moderately included, with some abrasions to the crowns noticeable only under 10x magnification. The yellow sapphires are light to medium yellow, slightly to moderately included, with some abrasions to the crowns noticeable only under 10x magnification. The rubies are medium to medium deep purplish red, moderately included with a few heavily included examples. The diamonds, estimated to weigh a total of approximately 0.70 carat, are approximately G-I color, VS-SI clarity with a couple I examples. Dimensions approximately 3¾ x 3⅛ inches.
