Condition

Overall in very good condition. The wood surfaces with scattered scuffs, scratches, nicks, dents, abrasions, minor areas of rubbing and discoloration, some areas of paint residue, and some surface soiling concentrated to the recesses of the design, all consistent with age and use. The fir portions with natural knots and irregularities in the wood grain, typical for Inland fir. The paint on both doors is possibly touched up at some stage in the pieces' history, but does present with a light crazing consistent with age. The door illustrated to the left in the catalogue illustration with some wear and losses to the wood on the bottom half of the front proper left edge, consistent with age and use, the largest loss measuring approximately 7 ¼ in. long, not immediately noticeable when the doors are shut. This door also with a drill hole and an area of paint reside to the left of the tipi motif, where a knob element was previously installed, the area of residue measuring approximately 4 ½ x 3 ½ in. This door also with losses to two tips of the honor of the tipi motif, the longer loss measuring approximately 7/8 x 1/8 in. The reverse of this door is executed in a natural fir with some scattered residual spotting. This left door with missing hardware and subsequent residual mark at the far outer edge where there once was a door handle, visible in the catalogue illustration, though not visually detractive. The door illustrated to the right in the catalogue illustration with some more prominent rubbing to the proper right portion of the underside of the fir paneling, measuring approximately ½ x 9 ¼ in., not visible when the door is shut. This same door with a separation to one tip of the honor of the tipi motif, possibly restored, stable and measuring approximately ½ in. The reverse of this door with a few scattered instances of more pronounced dents and abrasions, the largest measuring approximately 1 5/8 x ½ in. This door fitted with original patinated iron locking mechanism; the metal surfaces with some instances of rubbing and minor oxidation.
