Catalogue Note

The two tone dial on the present lot forms the image of the Maltese Cross, which Vacheron Constantin had adopted as the company logo in 1880.  The Knights Hospitaller, later known as the Knights of Malta used the Maltese Cross as the symbol of their Order, when they occupied the island of Malta, beginning in 1530.   Vacheron Constantin chose the logo of this cross as a symbol of the firm's continuing quest for precision in their timepieces.
