comprising two rectangular panels composed of polychrome fritware including white, shades of blue and turquoise, each with a calligraphic inscription within a scrolling foliate ground

Provenance

Ex-collection Mnavzagan Pridonoff (d.1937), Tiblisi and Paris.
These tiles are named on the inventory of the previous owner’s mother on her wedding contract dated 28 July 1944 (first work to be itemised).
Rediscovered by the previous owner in his mother’s home, France, 1973.

Condition

Both rectangular panels with hooks to reverse of wood frames for hanging, some abrasion to edges and areas of restoration, particularly along each edge. As viewed. With further fragments, including 26 of consequential size and numerous small fragments, as viewed.
