  • A collection of four portraits of Maharajah
  • Each watercolour over pencil, some heightened with bodycolour;
    all inscribed, three dated between 1849 and 1850
  • Largest 310 by 22 mm.; 12 1/4 by 8 1/2 in
including portraits of Gulab Singh (1792-1857) seated in a chair, by Dr. Dunlop; Duleep Singh (1838-1893) as a child accompanied by attendants, attributed to Sir Henry Cole (1808-1882); Diwan Mulraj (d. 1849) in captivity at Lahore, by the artist signing H.O.M.; and Mir Ali Murad Khan Talpur of Khairpur (reigned 1842-1894), by W. Lester

Condition

These watercolours have been well preserved. There is some general staining to the paper, mainly at the extreme edges of the sheet.
