Catalogue Note

This particular “Greubel Forsey Tourbillon 24 Seconds Incliné" is a prototype.

According to our knowledge only a few prototypes have been manufactured, this particular one bears the number 3 and one can notice the engraving "PROTO 3" on the dial.

The movement of this watch incorporates a tourbillon inclined at a 25° angle and performs a 24-second revolution, which is considerably faster in comparison to more traditional one-minute tourbillons.

Special low-density alloys such as Avional and titanium, which are employed in the aeronautical industries, were used for the tourbillon. This enables the tourbillon carriage to overcome the stress imposed by the high rotation velocity. The tourbillon cage alone is comprised of 87 parts and yet weighs just 0.39g.

The asymmetrical design of the case and dial gives the watch an attractive twist. The additional curved sapphire crystal set to the side of the case opens the view to the tourbillon carriage and one can fully appreciate the tourbillon in action.

Sotheby's is honoured to work in cooperation with Greubel Forsey, providing the new owner with a complete and complimentary service of the watch from an official Greubel Forsey retailer. This includes the update of the owners book and renewal of the two year owners warranty. In addition the leather strap may be replaced and fitted for their usage. Any additional terms and conditions of this unique offer is available upon request.
