Roman School, 18th Century

This triple portrait has an inscription on the reverse probably transcribed from the back of the original canvas: Ritratto del Ppe Francesco Barberini / e delle due sue sorelle. The digits +185–. inscribed alongside correspond with the death date of Francesco Barberini Colonna (185[3]). The date of Francesco's death would fit with the sitters' identification as the children of Carlo Barberini and Giustina Borromeo Arese d'Angera: their eldest son Francesco Barberini Colonna (b. 5 November 1772), and their two daughters Amalia Charlotte (b. 21 September 1771) and Teresa (b. 26 November 1776).
