Catalogue Note
Villamont embarked from Venice to Cyprus, Egypt and Syria in 1589, returning to Paris in 1590. This work is the result of his experiences, and also includes material borrowed from other published sources, such as Belon. Book I describes his travels from Brittany to Venice; Book II the Greek Archipelago and Jerusalem; Book III Syria and Egypt. There were many editions of this work published in the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries.
