Description

  • 58cm. 22¾in. high
7-inch dial with rococo spandrels, silvered centre engraved with scrolls and a basket of fruit, concentric date ring, the arch with subsidiary strike/silent and tune selection dials flanking a recessed plaque signed Thos Lozano en Londres, the three train fusee movement with six knopped pillars, verge escapement, trip repeat striking on a bell, quarter chiming on a nest of eight bells and playing one of two tunes at the hour, the backplate engraved with foliate scrolls and a pagoda, the case with bell top and pineapple finials above caryatid corner mounts, side carrying handles and cast frets, on winged scroll feet

Condition

Dial is rather dirty and silvering rubbed. Movement is complete but very dirty and requires complete service and overhaul, fusee line to strike is broken, verge crown wheel replaced, the strike fusee heavily bushed in the backplate. Case is rather dry with many old scuffs, marks, cracks and scratches, some old repairs to veneers, corner moulding lacking to rear top right corner. With a winder and case key.
