Condition
Fair condition; beautifully carved; the lintel with an old repaired break to the center with infilling and discolored inpainting; the central tablet is beautifully carved with a restoration to the proper left horn of the goat in the foreground; left swag with some old repairs and chips; the right swag is off and broken and in need of repair; some small restorations to the top of the left upright to the opening; chips to the top right corner of the opening; both sides have marble veneers which are off but present with this lot and with some small losses; there are chips and wear to the edges of the entire chimneypiece consistent with age and use; the chimneypiece has wonderful proportions and great carving and would benefit from sympathetic restoration.
