Catalogue Note
Devi seated on her lion mount battles the demon Raktabija who charges at her on his elephant.
Vishnu riding on Garuda, saving Gajendra the king of the elephants from the jaws of Makara the crocodile and decapitating the reptile with his chakra (discus). Waving a lotus blossom, Gajendra pleads for Vishnu's intervention. Gajendra attains moksha (salvation) and praises Vishnu.
