Condition
This painting originally on panel has been transferred onto canvas, presumably because there was some weakness to the structure of the panel. The paint layer is now stable, and the lining is successful. Under ultraviolet light, one can see a few small retouches in the upper center, a dozen or so spots in the lower sky, and a few in the water and harborside. If the picture were cleaned, a few more retouches will probably become apparent. There is a slightly ambiguous quality to some of the trees, the darker colors as well as the sky. The work should probably be hung as is.
