Catalogue Note

Since the early 1980s, Wang Tiande has been a pioneer of experimental ink painting, dynamically transforming the traditional ink medium into contemporary art. In his early Circle series, Wang integrates mixed media with ink and transforms landscape painting into a pure symbol of abstraction. In the purity of the circle, which alludes to unity, infinite space, and harmony from within, we discover a self-contained world wherein the sensuality of ink and brush intermingle to resemble the artist's emotional state.  He has placed his seal, bearing his name, at the center of the composition, consciously asserting his handiwork as an integral part of the composition.
