Catalogue Note

“Drawing is the essential beginning which develops into an intense relationship between the artist and the subject. The image emerges, after endless activity, as a spontaneous act which joins a web of memories and intuitions with the ever present world”

James Cohan quoted in: Exhibition Catalogue, London, Anthony d’Offay Gallery, (and travelling), Leon Kossoff: Drawings 1985 to 1992, 1993, p. 5.
